The meals we provide for the children are well-balanced, nutritious and healthy

The Head Chef’s aim at Bramcote Lorne is to ensure that the meals we provide for the children are well-balanced, nutritious and healthy. Children need to eat a balanced diet including carbohydrates, proteins, good fats, vitamins and minerals every day. We want our pupils to be healthy and happy.

We provide fresh fruit and vegetables on a daily basis to help our pupils reach their target of five portions. The fruit is cut into small portions and fresh uncooked vegetables such as carrot and celery are served on the daily salad bar.

Every day we offer a nutritional breakfast for our boarding pupils consisting of fresh fruit, yoghurt, a selection of cereals, fruit juice and water. Each morning a hot choice is offered such as croissants, scrambled eggs, homemade pancakes, bacon rolls … and on a Friday we offer a full cooked breakfast.

Lunch consists of freshly prepared salad dishes, homemade soup and roll or a hot meal accompanied by two vegetable choices and a potato dish. We offer a vegetarian choice and a pasta dish. A dessert is offered at lunchtime, ranging from fruit crumbles, sponges or bread pudding to cheese and biscuits or fruit pies. Fresh fruit pieces are always available at lunchtimes.

Our suppliers are all local and the vegetable delivery takes place each day to ensure freshness. All our meals are cooked fresh on the day.

We encourage pupil participation in the development of our menus which are reviewed by our catering team on a regular basis.
