Emma, Jasmine and Henry - Award Winners 2007
Congratulations to three Year 8 superstars!
We are delighted to announce that three of our Year 8 pupils have received scholarship recognition from their future senior schools.
Henry Moxon has been awarded an Academic Exhibition by Worksop College. He performed outstandingly well over the three days of examination, excelling in Mathematics and Geography in particular.
Emma Sanders has been awarded a Sports Scholarship from Lincoln Minster School in recognition of her outstanding sporting triumphs.
Finally, Jasmine Jones has been awarded a Music Tuition Award from Repton School for her passion for piano playing.
Emma has been a pupil at Bramcote Lorne for six years and represents England at rounders, is a British orienteering champion, and plays hockey for Nottinghamshire. She also plays netball and football and enjoys athletics and cross country.
She said, “I was a bit nervous at first but when we started playing netball I just got into my stride, settled down and enjoyed myself.
“Receiving this award means an awful lot to me because all of my friends and family are extremely proud of me. I’m really pleased with myself because I worked really hard to earn the scholarship.”
Henry has been at Bramcote Lorne almost all his life, joining Nursery when he was six months old! More recently he was part of our British Orienteering Championship team and he played one of the leading roles in last year’s school play.
Of the scholarship itself, Henry said, “I actually enjoyed it. I liked it because I made new friends and it was a good challenge. It meant the world to me when I heard I had been successful. The scholarship means I can stay at Worksop all the way through to the Sixth Form. I have wanted to go there for as long as I can remember.”
Jasmine, who was Head Girl last term, is a pianist and a particular fan of blues and jazz.
Jasmine said, “I felt scared to begin with but as I met a few more people in the same position as I was in, I felt the pressure fade away. Getting this award has really boosted my confidence as a musician.
“I quite literally jumped up and down when Mr Raistrick, told me that I’d got the award and for the rest of the day I couldn’t stop smiling.”
