Senior Pupils

Our hope is that Bramcote Lorne pupils are ready for anything and afraid of nothing as they move on to their senior schools.

Our hope is that Bramcote Lorne pupils are ready for anything and afraid of nothing as they move on to their senior schools. In their final two years, pupils are encouraged to develop their leadership qualities and take on responsibility in addition to pushing their academic capabilities to the highest possible level.

The curriculum remains broadly the same as at Key Stage 2 with the emphasis in the final two years being on preparation for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations. All pupils are given support and advice on revision techniques and are encouraged to begin building their resources at an early stage to avoid additional pre-examination pressure. In Year 8, pupils are provided with a revision diary for the holidays in order to assist with the organisation and planning of their revision.

Pupils in Year 8 are often entered for Scholarships to their senior schools; these may be academic, sporting, musical, artistic or very often all-rounder awards. In order to achieve a scholarship, pupils have to achieve extremely high standards in their particular field and need to be dedicated to the challenge.

In their final year at Bramcote Lorne, all pupils are given every opportunity to develop their leadership responsibilities through the prefectorial system. At the beginning of the year, a group of prefects and sub-prefects is chosen and this is regularly reviewed by staff and additions to these groups are made as individuals mature and develop their levels of responsibility.
